Get out and get walking! In the South End Arts District, the Champlain College Master of Fine Arts in Emergent Media Program’s “Emergence” show opens at SEABA Center. Next door at Davis Studio Gallery, Kim Bombard opens a show of paintings. Digital illustrator Jacob Martin shows new work at Speaking Volumes. It is Creative Competition once again at RL Photo. The FLYNNDOG has “The Third Floor Show” featuring work by artists working on the 3rd Floor of the Howard Space Center. Stephanie Holman Thwaites has an opening reception at Dostie Bros. Frame Shop. At the Soda Plant, “Cut & Paste” (collage) opens at S.P.A.C.E. and at The Backspace, join in on creating the World’s Largest Collage! At Brickels Studio Gallery, Rob Hunter presents “Barnyard” documentary photography. On the Waterfront, The Gallery at Main Street Landing, Rachel Laundon presents “Fur and Fins” an off-the-wall sculpture show and “Goin’ Back Home”, work about New Orleans by Lizzie Post. Duncan McKee’s work is exhibited for the first time since 2004 at North End Studio A. At Rose Street Gallery is the opening reception for the Rock Point High School show. Downtown: At Frog Hollow, Burlington artist dug Nap has a exhibition opening. Across the street at Salaam & The Men’s Store, a show by Ward Joyce opens. Red Square presents its employee art show, “May Day”. New City Galerie is opening a show of ceramics by Bech Evans and Erik Rehman. At the BCA Center, First Floor Gallery, Galen Cheney is present for an opening and artist talk on her show, “Street Level”.

How to Art Walk

First Friday Art Walk is a community event that takes place the first Friday of each month throughout the city of Burlington. The event is free and open to anyone. Between thirty and forty art venues are open between 5PM and 8PM for the Art Walk. Some venues have openings, talks, music, or other special activities. Others are simply open late. Art Map Burlington is the official publication of First Friday Art Walk and guide to venues. Look for venues marked with a * in the listings section of the printed publication.

Free Live Music

Carol Norton presents atmospheric water images in oil at Studio D-3 with acoustic guitar performance by Steve Madden.

Christopher Lisle and Shaun Boyce are the featured artists at Nectar’s followed by music by Seth Yacovone and Spiritual Rez with Otis Grove.

The CCV guitar students and chorus are on hand for the opening reception for the Spring Student Art Show at CCV Winooski.
